Authers Building Group (ABG) is your one-stop shop for K-12 Educational, Municipal, Faith-Based, and Private construction. With over 30 years of experience, we manage your project from concept to completion. Founded on the guiding principle of treating others with respect, similar to the Golden Rule from Matthew 7:12, ABG fosters a collaborative and trusting work environment. Favorite Activities outside of work: Family, hunting (especially duck hunting), fishing, outdoor activities, beekeeping, reloading, church activities, traveling, cooking, and fireworks!

Fun Fact about you that most people don’t know: Kiwi started out in New Zealand a Shepherd then came to the USA and moved into construction.

What makes ABG such a great place to work: While working is a job, ABG strives to make it a place where everyone matters. A place where you feel valued as a team member with a voice that’s always heard. Laughter’s a regular occurrence, not something rare. It’s a place you choose to stay until retirement, and grow others as they join the team.

Favorite Project you have worked on at ABG and why: All of them especially the challenging ones, because they too end in success.

Name: Sharon Authers

ABG Position: Owner and Project Manager

Years in Construction: 8

ABG Responsibilities: Leadership team, managing projects, assisting in HR duties and company relations.

Favorite Activities outside of work: Traveling, cooking, watching K-dramas, enjoying pool-time with friends, wine making, fishing, board games, and going to concerts.

Fun Fact about you that most people don’t know: Sharon is an avid Korean drama watcher.

What makes ABG such a great place to work: Being able to support employees and watch their career growth. It is a blessing to be part of this beautiful extended family.

Favorite Project you have worked on at ABG and why: A volunteer project we did for Albe Faith, a non-profit that created a space to help people with neurological disabilities. Subs donated their time and materials to this project and seeing it come to life was a joy.

Name:  Brooks Stoy

ABG Position: Vice President of Operations

Years in Construction: 22 Years

ABG Responsibilities: Developing the project management operations team to ensure delivery of every project on time, within budget and scope for ABG. Overseeing, mentoring, and leading the project management operations.

Growth of the company by supporting existing markets as well as developing new markets, technologies, and processes.

Favorite Activities outside of work: Hunting and golfing and hunting and golfing and hunting and golfing. 

Fun Fact about you that most people don’t know: Brooks did not know how to skip until he was in the first grade. His teacher said if he could not learn to skip he would not be allowed to go on to the next grade. With a lot of hard work he figured it out.

What makes ABG such a great place to work: The People! It’s inspiring to watch our young team grow and contribute to our success. The ABG team thrives because of the dedication and hard work of each individual.

Name:  Melanie Lesue

ABG Position: Controller

Years in Construction: 17

ABG Responsibilities: Financial operations, encompassing financial management, budgeting and cost control, payroll and reporting, and strategic financial planning.

Favorite Activities outside of work: Melanie’s favorite activity outside of work is spending time with family, especially her granddaughter. Melanie loves to travel, spend time near the ocean, and occasionally attempt to still play soccer.

Fun Fact about you that most people don’t know: Melanie is a grandma!

What makes ABG such a great place to work: The people are great. The owners are extremely kind. It feels like being part of building a great company.

Name: Bobbie Johnson

ABG Position: Accounting

ABG Responsibilities: Accounts Receivables and Accounts Payables

Favorite Activities outside of work: Traveling, cooking, spending time with loved ones, and staying active outdoors.

Fun Fact about you that most people don’t know: Bobbie is part owner and farmer of a family owned pecan orchard in Oklahoma.

What makes ABG such a great place to work: The people and the relationships within the company. Knowing you are part of projects that are key to growing communities that will continue giving back for years to come.

Favorite Project you have worked on at ABG and why: After attending the service and ribbon cutting of Lighthouse Church, we were able to see the congregation utilize their new space and facility. As office employees, we rarely get to see the excitement and the actual end result in working motion and the impact that the space provides.

Name: Amy Scott

ABG Position: Chief Marketing Officer

Years in Construction: 4

ABG Responsibilities: Amy, our EA and Marketing Manager, handles all branding, RFP/RFQ submissions, and oversees marketing and social media for ABG. If you’ve been to any ABG function, it was likely executed under Amy’s oversight.

Favorite Activities outside of work: Amy spends all of her free time with her husband, Darren, and their three boys—Cullen, Logan, and Beckett—participating in travel baseball, football, and rugby.

Fun Fact about you that most people don’t know: Amy was born in Las Vegas and has over 20 years in event production experience, mostly on the Las Vegas Strip.

What makes ABG such a great place to work: ABG is a wonderful family-centric company.

Name: Brandon Knight

ABG Position: Senior Project Manager

Years in Construction: 9

ABG Responsibilities: Overseeing projects from pre-construction efforts all the way to project closeouts. This involves leading and training project teams to effectively collaborate with field staff, architects, and owner representatives, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Favorite Activities outside of work: Spending time with family, traveling, riding motorcycles, golf, hunting and fishing.

Fun Fact about you that most people don’t know: Began a career in the oil field industry as a Petroleum Engineer.

What makes ABG such a great place to work: Without a doubt, it is the people and the culture that ABG has created and hired that make this a great place to work. This company truly values the importance of family and always attempts to maintain a family focused environment, both in the field and in the office.

Favorite Project you have worked on at ABG and why: First Baptist Church Rowlett. This was the first ground-up church project at ABG and in a city where the company had never worked before. The project presented numerous challenges, but it provided a valuable learning experience and turned out to be a great success.

Name: Victoria Lahr Johnson

ABG Position: Project Manager

Years in Construction: 11

ABG Responsibilities: Oversight and management of projects assigned by upper-management. Lead, train, and teach project team members to achieve the next level. Design Build & Design Assist type projects along with CMAR & CSP type contracts.

Favorite Activities outside of work: Victoria enjoys going out to any lake she can find on her parents’ boat, spending time with her son and husband, drinking wine, and visiting wineries and restaurants in Downtown McKinney. She also loves traveling whenever she gets a free minute!

Fun Fact about you that most people don’t know: Let’s state the obvious: if you don’t work for ABG, you wouldn’t know that Victoria’s first name is actually “Indiana.” This is a family tradition on her mother’s side, as it is her mother and grandmother’s name. Although they are not from Indiana, they are actually from California. Victoria was able to escape California in 2020 and came to Texas, where she feels she has always belonged. Although she misses the California weather, it was time for her to make the move. Texas has given her a lot of great things: a husband, two dogs, and her wonderful son!

What makes ABG such a great place to work: The hearts and trust of Sharon and Kiwi Authers have deeply impacted Victoria. She has never encountered such selfless individuals in her working or personal life. Her parents always taught her to give her heart to the job, and her employer would reciprocate. Since joining ABG in 2021, this has proven true for Victoria. She has never been so happy showing up to work every day and had always yearned for a company where she could see herself retiring. At 29 years old, she found her company and her people.

Even on the hard, difficult, and chaotic days, she is still happy to show up to work the next day. Kiwi, Sharon, and ABG have helped her grow professionally and personally, supporting her through milestones like getting engaged, being promoted to Project Manager, getting married, and starting her family. Victoria is honored and thrilled to experience the growing pains, successes, and challenges with Authers Building Group, as they have become her family.

Favorite Project you have worked on at ABG and why: One Community Church Prosper and Region 10 ESC. Both of these clients keep coming back, and they are just good people. The flow, the communication, and the relationship are overall enjoyable and positive. Typically, people get nervous in front of clients, but these folks want to joke around, take bad news and turn it into a positive, and truly trust our team.

One Community Church – Prosper Student Building is Victoria’s very first concrete tilt wall project and her second ground-up project. The new opportunity makes this a favorite. Region 10 ESC was her biggest remodel to date, valued at $3.2 million, and it gave her exposure to a public project, which she looks forward to doing more of in summer 2024!

Name: Drew Bristol

ABG Position: Project Manager

Years in Construction: 10

ABG Responsibilities: Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables. Manage daily project activities, ensuring adherence to plans, schedules, and specifications. Oversee project budgets and expenses. Resolve project issues, conflicts, and changes. Negotiate with subcontractors.

Favorite Activities outside of work: Spending time with family, hunting, and attending sporting events.

Fun Fact about you that most people don’t know: Drew played college football at Texas State University on a scholarship.

What makes ABG such a great place to work: The family atmosphere.

Favorite Project you have worked on at ABG and why: RPMx Corporate Office – it was a complex building with many obstacles to overcome.

Name: Ulises Arnada

ABG Position: Project Manager

Years in Construction: 10 Years

ABG Responsibilities: Manage the project across several fronts: financial, schedule, change orders, and takeoffs.

Favorite Activities outside of work: Golfing, cooking, raising money for cancer awareness, and attending Dallas Stars games.

Fun Fact about you that most people don’t know: I own a chocolate brand company.

What makes ABG such a great place to work: ABG has great energy and has a family feel to it.

Name: Paul Smith

ABG Position: Project Manager

Years in Construction: 7

ABG Responsibilities: Run all the submittals, RFI’s and our LeadTime Software.

Favorite Activities outside of work: Spending time with family, hunting, fishing, and playing golf.

Fun Fact about you that most people don’t know: Paul is an Eagle Scout.

What makes ABG such a great place to work: ABG is an amazing place to work due to the fact they put Faith and Family first. ABG is a very honest company and those are a hard to come by now-a-days. It’s truly a special team and Paul is very proud and thankful to be apart of ABG.

Favorite Project you have worked on at ABG and why: First Baptist Church of Rowlett was Paul’s favorite project. It was his first church project, offering a refreshing change from ISD and municipality work with its different aspects of construction.

Name: Nataly Ballesteros

Years in Construction: 3

ABG Responsibilities: Assisting project managers by streamlining RFI’s, submittals and change orders.

Favorite Activities outside of work: Yoga, traveling, photography, and completing puzzles.

Fun Fact about you that most people don’t know: I am a 200 RYT certified yoga instructor.

Name: John Morgan

ABG Position: Project Engineer

Years in Construction: 10 Including Commercial Real Estate

ABG Responsibilities: RFIs, submittals, closeouts, substituting for superintendents at job sites, calling on and following up with subcontractors to bid on projects, miscellaneous support on various projects, and providing assistance or help with anything else needed.

Favorite Activities outside of work: Boating, water sports, and billiards. 

Fun Fact about you that most people don’t know: John very rarely does anything without finding a way to enjoy or have fun while doing it.

What makes ABG such a great place to work: Hands down and without a doubt, The People.

Favorite Project you have worked on at ABG and why: CC Plano because John worked on it from beginning to end.

Name: Macy Nix

ABG Position: Assistant Project Manager

Years in Construction: 1

ABG Responsibilities: Reviewing submittals, creating RFIs, checking in with subcontractors, collecting and filing closeout documents, and assisting with change orders and pay applications.

Favorite Activities outside of work: Hiking, fishing, camping, playing video games, cooking, and baking.

Fun Fact about you that most people don’t know: Macy married her college sweetheart back in 2021, and since then, they have adopted three cats—Cheese, Crackers, and Macaroni—who are just as fun and interesting as their names suggest.

What makes ABG such a great place to work: In her experience as a former intern and now as a Project Engineer, Macy has found that ABG doesn’t take itself too seriously and facilitates a warm, inviting environment that allows growth and open communication throughout the chain of command.

Favorite Project you have worked on at ABG and why: Macy’s favorite project so far has to be the Region 10 Abrams Call Center. While it was not a huge or extravagant project, it was a chance to collaborate with the same team she interned with and rekindle relationships with the client and architect.

Name: Wilson Trimble

ABG Position: Project Engineer

Years in Construction: New to Industry

ABG Responsibilities: Creates RFIs, reviews submittals, follows up and checks in with subcontractors, collects and files closeout documents, assists with change orders and pay applications, substitutes for superintendents at job sites, and provides help, assistance, and support on various projects.

Favorite Activities outside of work: Cooking, baking, volunteering at church, gardening, hiking, learning, and doing adventurous activities.

Fun Fact about you that most people don’t know: The first music concert he went to was The Grand Ole Opry with Charlie Daniels as the main performance.

What makes ABG such a great place to work: The supportive, inviting, and honest people who cultivate a warm family-like culture that allows learning and growth, open communication, and flexibility.

Name: Henry Stawski

ABG Position: Project Engineer

Years in Construction: 1.5 Years

ABG Responsibilities: Reviews submittals, creates RFIs, checks in with subcontractors, collects and files closeout documents, and assists with change orders and pay applications.

Favorite Activities outside of work: Learning history, playing games, watching movies, skating with friends, and spending quality time with his girlfriend.

Fun Fact about you that most people don’t know: Sailed through a hurricane.

What makes ABG such a great place to work: Wonderful work environment and an incredible leadership team that cares about personal development and future within ABG.

Favorite Project you have worked on at ABG and why: OCC McKinney because it’s been his first project and it has been an extremely smooth process.

Name: Melinda Moore

ABG Position: Senior Project Coordinator

Years in Construction: 35

ABG Responsibilities: Responsible for Procore and File Share tasks, including new job setup, maintenance, closure, and database management, as well as updating new or existing forms and program implementation. Oversee Prime Contract follow-up and execution, along with the issuance, review, and execution of subcontracts, POs, Change Orders, and Change Events. Manage subcontractor compliance for Pay Apps, Exhibit D, lien waivers, COIs, and filing project documents. Handle P & P Bonding and COI management for both ABG and subcontractors. Coordinate subcontractor participation in COMPASS (a pre-qualifications management process) and manage various construction software and programs. Oversee project coordinator staff and act as a liaison between the Owner/Architect/Subcontractor and ABG Project Management Team, providing intervention and Q&A support. Assist Project Managers with budget management as needed, communicate subcontractor Pay Apps and invoice funding, and ensure project closeouts are completed efficiently.

Favorite Activities outside of work: Anything outdoors and being with family, especially grandchildren.

Fun Fact about you that most people don’t know:  Melinda has been married twice and is a HUGE fan of Elvis, Lisa Maria, and Priscilla Presley.

What makes ABG such a great place to work: When Melinda says ABG is a “family-oriented” place to work, it truly is demonstrated by the actions of upper management and team members in the workplace. ABG also allows team members to take care of personal family issues, including working from home if needed, thus enabling them to be more efficient and effective, which might not be possible if they were required to work in the office.

Favorite Project you have worked on at ABG and why: Melinda has enjoyed being a part of each and every project that ABG has been awarded.

Name: Jeff Hook

ABG Position: Project Coordinator

Years in Construction: 1

ABG Responsibilities: Distributing payments to subcontractors while requesting and confirming their appropriate documentation is on file. Confirming and requesting that subcontractors Certificate of Liability Insurance is up to date.

Favorite Activities outside of work: Jeff enjoys spending time with his wife, golfing, fishing, and hunting.

Fun Fact about you that most people don’t know: Jeff sang at Chuck Norris’ wedding.

What makes ABG such a great place to work: The staff and culture make it fun.

Favorite Project you have worked on at ABG and why: eff works on multiple projects behind the scenes, but it’s neat for him to watch the Lighthouse Church project unfold, as he is a member of the church.

Name: Kaleb Brown

ABG Position: Estimator

Years in Construction: 11  (6 – Commercial, 5 – Residential)

ABG Responsibilities: Preconstruction Bid Process

Favorite Activities outside of work: Enjoys boating, traveling, and gaming.

Fun Fact about you that most people don’t Know: Outside of work at ABG Kaleb is known by several different nicknames. 

What makes ABG such a great place to Work: The culture ABG has built over decades was evident within hours of working here.

Favorite Project you have worked on at ABG and Why: Life Point Church was Kaleb’s first project with ABG, providing a solid introduction to the company. It offered valuable insights and laid the foundation for future successful collaborations.

Name: Darren Scott

ABG Position: Senior Superintendent

Years in Construction: 15

ABG Responsibilities: As our Senior Superintendent, Darren runs multiple projects simultaneously while focusing on safety training for new hires with a hands-on, all-inclusive approach.

Favorite Activities outside of work: Darren spends all of his free time with his wife, Amy, and their three boys—Cullen, Logan, and Beckett—participating in travel baseball, football, and rugby.

Fun Fact about you that most people don’t know: Darren was born in New Zealand where he played professional rugby.

What makes ABG such a great place to work: ABG is a wonderful family-centric company.

Favorite Project you have worked on at ABG and why: Darren’s favorite project thus far has been the OCC Plano Youth Ministry Building . This was his first project as Superintendent with ABG. Since this project’s completion, Darren has maintained his great relationship with the OCC Owners and recently broke ground on the OCC Prosper addition. He looks forward to completing another project on time and under budget for the One Community Church.

Name: Brad Christopher

ABG Position: Superintendent

Years in Construction: 14

ABG Responsibilities: Direct and coordinate all on-site work to ensure timely completion and budget adherence for high-quality projects. Build relationships with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors. Document detailed daily logs to track progress and maintain a project schedule with clear timelines for each subcontractor/vendor. Conduct owner meetings alongside the Project Manager to provide transparent and accurate updates on project progress. Review subcontractor/vendor scopes of work and contracts. Lead, train, and collaborate with the project team.

Favorite Activities outside of work: Working on the family farm, hunting, fishing, and camping.

What makes ABG such a great place to work: The family environment and great team members.

Favorite Project you have worked on at ABG and why: The Canyon Creek Spillway project was a unique challenge, requiring us to contend with the ever-present forces of nature in a constantly flowing creek. Water levels fluctuated dramatically, ranging from 5 to 25 feet deep. Adaptability was key, as we employed two different styles of cofferdams to find the optimal solution for the steep banks and the creek’s relentless movement. Teamwork proved essential on this project. Long hours and unforeseen ‘waters’ were navigated and turned into a beautiful new spillway and surrounding retaining walls.

Name: David Goodman

ABG Position: Superintendient

Years in Construction: 42

ABG Responsibilities: Coordinate with subcontractors, meet new owners and architects, solve issues, maintain the schedule, and ensure all materials are delivered on time. Review submittals and RFIs, walk the job site to check on subcontractors, ensure safety compliance, schedule inspections, and keep the PM updated.

Favorite Activities outside of work: David enjoys spending time with his family, especially taking his grandbaby to different places. At home, he likes watching TV documentaries and spending time with his wife. David loves to travel and has recently discovered a fondness for cruises on the open sea.

Fun Fact about you that most people don’t know: David is a surviving twin. His twin sister’s name was Sandra Carol.

What makes ABG such a great place to work: The fact that we are not numbers in this company, we’re family.

Favorite Project you have worked on at ABG and why: Community church in Plano, TX. It was a pleasure getting to work with the church staff and the job ran smoothly.

Name: David Couch

ABG Position: Superintendent

Years in Construction: 43

ABG Responsibilities: Get the job done on time, under budget and with zero accidents.

Favorite Activities outside of work: Going to sporting events with my sons , shooting guns, hanging out with my grand kids and watching football.

Fun Fact about you that most people don’t know: I can walk on my hands

Favorite Project you have worked on at ABG and why: Kennedale Central Warehouse

Name: Randal Fuller

ABG Position: Superintendent

Years in Construction: 12 Years

ABG Responsibilities: Ensure each project’s success through safety, profitability, efficient execution, and coordinated planning, ultimately enriching the experience and fostering growth for customers, subcontractors, and ABG. 

Favorite Activities outside of work: My wife and I cherish being part of our children’s growth and their maturing into young adults who follow our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We love spending time together, watching our daughter play softball, doing projects around the house, leading Bible studies with our sons, and attending church as a family.

Fun Fact about you that most people don’t know: I played college football and hold licenses as a Private Investigator and Personal Protection Officer.

What makes ABG such a great place to work: Kiwi and the whole crew! It’s truly like a family, and a greater purpose drives the company.

Favorite Project you have worked on at ABG and why: Burleson ISD THR Clinic. We put
lipstick on a pig and made it look and function great!

Name: Kyle Cecil

ABG Position: Superintendent

Years in Construction: 20

ABG Responsibilities: Manages job sites, ensuring smooth operations and successful project delivery.

Favorite Activities outside of work: Riding his motorcycle, playing golf, and spending time with his three kids. Enjoys traveling.

ABG Position: Assistant Superintendent

ABG Responsibilities: Ensure that projects are competed in the most professional way to reduce the chance of injury and provide a work environment that is healthy and safe for workers and anybody that is involved.

Favorite Activities outside of work: Passionate about anything with wheels, with a particular enjoyment for riding. Equally enjoys the hands-on aspects of the hobby, like rebuilding motors and fine-tuning suspension adjustments. This passion likely began from riding bicycles and skateboarding as a kid.

Fun Fact about you that most people don’t know: Prefers to tackle tasks independently rather than paying for services, enjoying the challenge of figuring things out. Help is only sought when a fresh perspective becomes necessary.

Favorite Project you have worked on at ABG and why: CFBISD summer renovations in 2023. With a handful of superintendents, the team achieved remarkable results for the company. This project helped build strong relationships and led to additional work from the district.

Favorite Project you have worked on at ABG and why: Had the opportunity to work on RPMx and CFBISD renovations, collaborating closely with the district staff and subcontractors. It was a valuable experience and a great challenge that allowed us to learn and grow through the process.

ABG Position: Superintendent

Years in Construction: 39

ABG Responsibilities: Everything from planting grass seed to finishing projects in a timely manner: satisfying the client, communicating with subcontractors, and working with team members.

Favorite Activities outside of work: Ronnie enjoys hunting and fishing. He also likes going to the boat ramps to watch people try to launch and load their boats. Additionally, he loves swimming and spending time with his granddaughter.

Fun Fact about you that most people don’t know: Ronnie enjoys water skiing.

Favorite Project you have worked on at ABG and why: Spring Valley Renovations was Ronnie’s favorite project at ABG because it was his first interior finish-out project, providing him with a valuable learning experience and an opportunity to develop new skills in interior finishes.

Name: Ricky Leach

ABG Position: Assistant Superintendant

Years in Construction: 16

ABG Responsibilities: Over see construction projects and sub contractors making sure plans are followed while using machinery. Coordinate sub-contractors. Following up with any administrator work needed for the site.

Favorite Activities outside of work: Going out to dinner, hanging out with friends while cooking outside, and listening to live music.

Fun Fact about you that most people don’t know: Ricky is a New Zealand native, loves to surf and rescues any living creature in need.

What makes ABG such a great place to work: The people are wonderful and the learning experiences ABG provides.

Favorite Project you have worked on at ABG and why: First Baptist Church Rowlett was Ricky’s first project with ABG. He learned a lot from his coworkers and made a few new friends along the way.

ABG Responsibilities: Ensure the project stays on schedule by working closely with subcontractors. Foster a positive relationship between the owners and ABG. Establish a strong safety culture across all job sites.

Favorite Activities outside of work: Colton enjoys coaching his kids sports, hunting, and fishing.

Fun Fact about you that most people don’t know: Colton is 10 years younger than everybody thinks he is.

What makes ABG such a great place to work: Unlike many companies where upper management seems distant, at ABG, they prioritize building strong relationships with employees.

Favorite Project you have worked on at ABG and why: During the Tom Bean ISD project, Colton cultivated strong, collaborative relationships with both the district and subcontractors, contributing significantly to his professional growth as superintendent.

Name: RICO LARA JR

ABG Position: Assistant Superintendent

Years in Construction: 3

ABG Responsibilities: Includes arriving on time to each job site and ensuring that all trades are wearing proper PPE. It also involves verifying that all JHA’s are completed before work begins each day and conducting mandatory walks around the job site. Throughout the day, responsibilities extend to taking pictures and logging notes, including weather, equipment, inspections, and other relevant details in Procore. Additionally, providing information or drawings to trades in the field, answering any questions, and handling small tasks requested by the office or upper management are key aspects of the role.

Favorite Activities outside of work: Enjoys spending quality time with the wife and kids, shooting fireworks, fishing, camping, cooking, and traveling.

Fun Fact about you that most people don’t know: Firework enthusiast and a passionate shoe collector.

ABG Position: Assistant Superintendent

ABG Responsibilities: Responsible for managing the job site and overseeing the personnel working on the project. This includes reporting manpower to the Owner’s Representative and scheduling trades to ensure smooth progress. Additionally, identifying and addressing problems quickly and efficiently is a key focus to keep projects on track.

Favorite Activities outside of work: Enjoys playing sand volleyball, working on a gaming PC, gaming, and fishing with friends.

Fun Fact about you that most people don’t know: Skilled in cooking and confident in culinary abilities, with the belief that becoming a chef could be a real possibility, despite not knowing exactly where the talent comes from.
